A leading supplier of pipework and engineering services for the clean water and sewage treatment sectors is expanding its manufacturing capacity with a move to a 1,800 sq.m production facility in Derby.
Since its acquisition by the Greenbank Group in 2020, Franklyn Yates Engineering (FYE) has enjoyed sustained success, outgrowing its dated, existing plant at Dock Road in Connah’s Quay, Flintshire.
From this month, production has switched to Northbridge Business Park in Alfreton Road, a more modern facility that is also home to another member of the group, Greenbank Engineering Services.
Charles Conroy, Greenbank Group Managing Director, explained: “As well as being much larger than the 540 sq.m production factory in North Wales, at 30 tonnes, the Derby facility has 10 times the lifting capacity and at 8.2 metres, it also has 2.7 times the lifting height than the facility at Connah’s Quay.
“This will enable FYE to deliver existing contracts with greater efficiency, while providing additional capacity as the business continues to grow and contributes to the UK Water Industry’s huge £104bn AMP8 campaign.
In the five years since joining the Greenbank Group, FYE has played a leading role in a series of high-profile projects within the clean and wastewater sectors, including a significant and continuous site presence at Beckton, Britain’s largest wastewater treatment plant, since 2022. Alongside a healthy order book from long-standing clients, it has also seen diversification into new markets, such as energy from waste, cement and food.
“The move to Derby really does mark the start of a new era for Franklyn Yates, providing the business more autonomy, enabling it to build on its existing strengths while facilitating closer collaboration with the rest of the Greenbank Group,” Charles said.
“With an aligned focus, together the group can offer comprehensive and bespoke engineering solutions for our clients, from design and manufacture to installation and maintenance,” he added.
