A Derbyshire-based engineering company has expanded its global operations with the opening of a new office in Kolkata, India.

The Greenbank Group has already established a solid trading relationship with the sub-continent, but it has set its sights on strengthening ties with one of the world’s fastest-growing economies. The office will help with plans to increase exports of a wide range of products designed and manufactured at its facilities in Woodville, Derbyshire, and Creswell, near Worksop.

Specialising in providing bespoke engineering solutions to the power generation sector, as well as other heavy industries such as steel, cement and minerals processing, Greenbank also has a strong presence in Europe and China.

Charles Conroy, the company’s Managing Director, explained: “Whilst consolidating our position in the UK market, we believe that exports will become increasingly important to our long-term success.

“Whilst coal-fired power generation and related industries are experiencing operational decline in the UK, other parts of the world are still heavily reliant on coal.

“Our innovative Systems Division’s products and solutions are designed to help engineers operate their plant more efficiently. They contribute much sought after ‘value engineering’ in assisting operators in delivering power generation whilst meeting the challenges of reducing their emissions.”

Greenbank’s recent activity in India has included working with major engineering contractors from the region to employ the company’s innovative pulverised fuel distribution, measurement and control technologies for large industrial coal boilers – including its acclaimed VARB© pulverised fuel diffuser and G-CAM© carbon in ash analysers.

“Opening up our Indian office takes the company an exciting step closer to the market and gives us improved flexibility and options in trading into India.” Charles added

Greenbank’s Indian office will be led by local partners Subir Roy and Sandeep Nigam who run their trading partner business ABSR Engineers and Services, which Greenbank is a member of.

As well as VARB© and G-CAM©, Greenbank’s products include volumetric and gravimetric fuel feeder and weighing systems technologies, PFMS® relative particle mass and velocity flow measurement tools, CoalFlo® damper valves to balance multi outlet mills fuel distribution and our GA series boiler tube steam leak detection systems.
