White Gates Farm and Abrams Farm Bore Holes within the Southport Demand Monitoring Zone

Franklyn Yates have successfully completed the mechanical supply and installation of the works on White Gates Farm and Abrams Farm Bore Holes with Advance.  Advance is a joint venture between MWH Treatment and Balfour Beatty which was strategically formed as a contract delivery partner to help United Utilities deliver their AMP6 capital works investment programme.

Under the capital works programme United Utilities identified a number of schemes to be undertaken in order to address deficiencies within the network and increase the available supply of quality drinking water within the Southport Demand Monitoring Zone (DMZ).

Tasks

WHITE GATES BORE HOLE

  • Manufacture and installation of DN350 carbon steel epoxy coated manifold pipework.
  • Manufacture and installation of the DN200 carbon steel epoxy coated pipework.
  • Manufacture and installation of the bore hole head plate.
  • Manufacture and installation of the sample pipework.
  • Manufacture and installation of the pipework supports.
  • Installation of the DN350 valve.
  • Installation of the DN350 non return valve.

ABRAMS FARM BORE HOLE

  • Manufacture and installation of DN350 carbon steel epoxy coated manifold pipework.
  • Manufacture and installation of the DN200 carbon steel epoxy coated pipework.
  • Manufacture and installation of the bore hole head plate.
  • Manufacture and installation of the sample pipework.
  • Manufacture and installation of the pipework supports.
  • Installation of the DN350 valve.
  • Installation of the DN350 non return valve.

Results

The 5 direct filtration water treatment works within the Southport DMZ  suite of projects are at Bickerstaffe, Blundell House, Mill Brow, Springfield, and Dark Lane. The works involved a mixture of both infrastructure and non-infrastructure works necessary to deliver a quality drinking water supply that meets consumer demand.

Advance engaged with Franklyn Yates Engineering to deliver the mechanical supply and installation works on the White Gates and Abrams Farm Bore Hole sites as part of this project.
