Environmental Policy

Greenbank Group UK Limited has a long tradition of designing, manufacturing and installing high quality steel pipework, plant and associated equipment in heavy industry. Additional activities include repair, maintenance and overhaul for the power generation and process industries. The Company is proud of its reputation for attention to quality, health & safety and environmental concern.

Greenbank Group UK Limited recognises the need to operate the business in a manner, which is consistent with protecting both the local and global environment. The Company will continue to commit the necessary financial and personnel resources to fulfil the environmental policy stated below.

The Managing Director is personally responsible for the environmental performance of the Company and has signed this policy in acknowledgement of his commitment towards implementing and monitoring the overall environmental strategy.

In addition particular Directors and Managers are responsible to the Managing Director for the successful implementation of the environmental policy. The Company identifies its responsibility for implementing the policy in the following areas:

  • Purchasing of raw materials and sub components
  • Water and energy consumption
  • Emissions to the atmosphere
  • Discharges to sewer and water courses
  • Solid waste minimisation
  • Packaging and transport

The Company is committed to protecting the environment by complying with all relevant UK legislation and regulatory provisions as well as meeting appropriate national standards. In addition, the company has adopted a policy of pursuing a continuing improvement in environmental performance whenever the environmental gains are consistent with the resource expenditure required to achieve them.

The company recognises that the environmental performance is dependent on the routine operating procedures. All functions of the business are, therefore, consistent with meeting the requirements of the Environmental Policy.

The Company has identified the following as key environmental objectives and targets and has developed a comprehensive Environmental Action Plan containing the means of achievement:-

  • Increase e-mail facilities over the next two years so as to reduce the usage of paper.
  • Substitute solvent based paints with water based over the next three years.
  • Provide white paper waste bins in all offices to facilitate recycling of waste paper.
  • Reduce the usage or aerosols and replace with hand operated trigger sprays.

All Company personnel to be trained on the environmental policy and strategy and emphasis on maintaining and improving the Company’s environmental performance.

The Current Environmental Policy is circulated to all Company personnel and published for circulation to shareholders, customers, clients, and other interested parties.

The Company has an Environmental Management System generally in line with the BS ISO EN 14001 and which complies with regulatory standards. It is our desire to obtain ISO accreditation before the end of 2006.

The environmental performance of the Company is audited against the policy. In addition, the policy is reviewed annually to take account of the audit findings, changes in legislation, advances in scientific and technical knowledge and changes in industrial practice.
