Keeping Manufacturing Local

‘National Manufacturing Week’ which takes place 1st – 5th March, sees The Greenbank Group UK Ltd launching a new initiative designed to keep manufacturing local by encouraging greater collaboration and partnership working between engineering businesses in the region.

National Manufacturing Week is organised by EEF and is supported by East Midlands Development Agency (emda). emda funds the Manufacturing Advisory Service (MAS) in the East Midlands, which provides manufacturers in the region with practical support focused on improving their profitability.

Greenbank, whose UK operations are based in Woodville, Derbyshire, are promoting to local businesses their skills and manufacturing facilities to increase the level of fabrication orders that may otherwise be commissioned outside of the region, or indeed outside the UK.

This week Greenbank, one of the UK’s leading heavy industrial engineering companies, will be promoting and highlighting the first class resources they have at their disposal to offer to other East Midlands engineering firms.

John Wood, Operations Director, The Greenbank Group commented:

“The East Midlands has an unrivelled wealth of engineering expertise and yet too often highly skilled local companies miss out on lucrative fabrication contracts simply because they can’t meet the manufacturing demands of large orders.”

“At Greenbank we have a covered fabrication area of over 3000m2 and lifting capability of up to 26 tonnes which has enabled us to take on small, medium and very large, specialized projects such as the fabrication of a full-scale model of an Airbus 380. We firmly believe that by promoting our skills and services locally as well as nationally we can help keep more fabrication business in the East Midlands.”

Mike Carr, Executive Director of Business Services at emda, commented on the initiative:

“The East Midlands has a great manufacturing heritage and so we are fully supportive of innovative schemes like this which will undoubtedly help local companies successfully compete for larger fabrication contracts and enable the area to maintain its reputation as one of the UK’s leading regions for engineering excellence.”

The Greenbank Group offers in-house engineering, fabrication, qualified welding and project management services to local companies, as well as OEMs, end users and international process engineering houses.
